Community Rules
Simple rules that keep Deaf Help India safe for everyone. Last updated 6 September 2026.
Deaf Help India connects Deaf people with each other, with work, and with customers. That only works if people are safe here. These rules apply everywhere on DHI — messages, service profiles, work requests, reviews and community posts.
Not allowed
- Threatening, bullying or harassing anyone
- Sexual messages or images, or any sexual content involving children
- Hate speech, or attacking someone for their disability, religion, caste, gender or where they come from
- Lying about who you are, or pretending to be someone else
- Scams, fake jobs, fake services, or asking for money for work you will not do
- Asking anyone for an OTP, PIN, password or bank details
- Selling anything illegal
- Sharing someone's phone number, address or photo without their permission
- Spam, or sending the same message again and again
- Using DHI to arrange anything against the law
About DHI Message
Messages between a customer and a service provider are private between those two people. They are not public, and other users cannot read them.
They are not secret from us. When someone reports a message, our admin team can read the conversation it belongs to, so we can decide what happened. We may also have to provide messages if the police or a court lawfully require it. We keep messages for a limited time and then delete them, except where they are needed for a report we are still investigating.
Please do not treat DHI Message as a place for anything you would not want an admin or a court to see.
Money and work
DHI does not take payments and does not hold your money. The customer and the service provider agree a price and pay each other directly. DHI is not part of that payment and cannot refund it.
Agree the price before work begins. Be careful if someone asks for a large payment in advance. Never share an OTP, PIN or password — nobody from DHI will ever ask you for one.
What DHI is, and what it is not
Deaf Help India is a place where people find each other. We are not an employer, not an agency, and not a contractor. When a customer and a service provider agree to work together, that agreement is between those two people. DHI is not part of it.
This means:
- We do not employ service providers and we do not supervise their work.
- We do not promise that work will be done well, on time, or at all.
- We do not hold your money, and we cannot refund a payment or recover one for you.
- We cannot promise that a person is who they say they are, or that they are safe to be alone with.
- What a user writes on DHI is written by that user, not by us.
If something goes wrong between a customer and a provider — bad work, a dispute about money, or a broken promise — that is between the two of them to settle, and if necessary through the police or the courts. Please still tell us, because we act on what people report, but understand that we cannot decide your dispute for you or make anyone pay you.
What we are responsible for is running this platform properly: looking at profiles before they go live, acting on reports, keeping your private information private, and answering you when you complain. We take those seriously, and none of the above is meant to avoid them. Nothing on this page removes any duty we have under Indian law.
Approval is not a background check
When a service profile says Profile approved by DHI, it means only that our team looked at the profile and it followed our rules at that time. It is not a recommendation. It does not mean we have checked that person’s identity, their criminal record, their qualifications or their skills. We do not do police verification or background checks, and we never claim to.
We also do not promise that a provider will be available, will charge what their profile says, or will do the work well. Use your own judgement, exactly as you would when hiring anyone.
What happens if someone breaks a rule
It depends on how serious it is. We may remove content, hide a review, suspend a service profile, or suspend an account completely. For serious matters — threats, fraud, or anything involving a child — we act immediately and may involve the police.
If we suspend you, you can see the reason, and you can ask us to look again by writing to our grievance officer.
Reporting
Use the Report button on any profile, request, message or review. You can also Block someone, which stops them contacting you straight away. Reporting is private — the other person is not told who reported them.
For anything else, or to complain about a decision we made, see Report a problem.
These rules sit alongside our Terms and Conditions and Privacy Policy. We update this page when the rules change, and the date at the top shows when.
